how do you turn on the winch on a toyota gx land cruiser 1998 model?

have every thing required but it will not start up or does the car need to be on.

follow the wire harness or inside your truck there should be a switch if not go to your local toyota dealer this wont caost any thing for them to show you and no the truck dose not have to be on for it to work
